I mean how many times have people of a different ethnicity mixed Cambodians up with Filipino’s? I mean I don’t blame them, since we do resemble one another in many ways. But it’s gotten to the point when someone sees a beautiful, cute, or sexy Khmer girl and asks her if she’s Filipino. And half the time when she says no, they ask her if she’s even half Filipino or mixed. Like, for some reason, they can’t believe or accept the fact that she’s beautiful, Asian, and not Filipino. A good example is Vannity Sin, a full Cambodian model; everyone always tumblr ask her if she’s Filipino or mixed. Another thing I’ve noticed throughout the years is how un-confident (if that’s even a word) Khmer girls are about their beauty when compared to other Asian girls. Like when one Khmer girl sees another gorgeous Khmer girl, she probably won’t believe at first that that girl is Khmer, especially if she’s light skinned lol. And I’m not gonna lie, when I first saw pictures of my boy’s new girl, I really couldn’t believe she was Khmer either. Maybe cuz I’ve been brainwashed too, into thinking that our women can’t be that pretty. But lately, with all these new and upcoming female Cambodian models gaining recognition from all over the internet and modeling agencies, I feel like it’s a revolution of some sort and these revolutionaries are bold. Cambodian girls are just as beautiful as any other Asian girls and I think they need to have more faith in their womanhood.
